Green Goniopora Large
Goniopora Coral (Flowerpot Coral) Overview & Care
Goniopora corals, known as Flowerpot corals, are eye-catching LPS corals with long, flowing polyps that resemble underwater blossoms. Available in stunning colors like pink, green, red, and rainbow varieties, they add vibrant movement and texture to reef tanks. Goniopora prefer moderate lighting (80–150 PAR) and low to moderate, indirect flow to keep their delicate polyps extended and swaying. They thrive in stable conditions: 76–80°F, salinity at 1.025, alkalinity 8–9 dKH, and slightly elevated nutrients. While photosynthetic, Goniopora benefit greatly from regular feedings of phytoplankton, reef roids, or powdered coral foods. Once considered difficult, newer aquacultured strains are much hardier and grow well with consistent care. Give them space to expand and avoid strong flow or aggressive neighbors. With proper feeding and stable water, Goniopora can flourish and become a true showpiece in your reef.
