Metallic Foxface
The Metallic Foxface (Siganus magnificus), also known as the Magnificent Foxface, is a stunning rabbitfish species prized for its bold coloration and hardiness. It features a striking pattern of jet-black, white, and golden-yellow with a metallic sheen that makes it stand out as a centerpiece fish. Native to the Indo-Pacific, this species can grow up to about 9–10 inches and requires a large aquarium (at least 125 gallons) with open swimming space and plenty of live rock for grazing. Like other rabbitfish, it has venomous dorsal spines, so caution is needed when handling. Generally peaceful and reef-safe with caution, the Metallic Foxface may occasionally nip at some soft or fleshy corals if not well-fed. It thrives on a diet rich in marine algae, seaweed, and plant-based foods, making it both a visually impressive and functional algae grazer in large reef or fish-only aquariums.
